How To Choose The Right Material For CNC Machined Parts?

There are many materials suitable for CNC machining, and to find the material suitable for the product is restricted by many factors, a basic principle that needs to be followed is: the performance of the material should meet the technical requirements of the product and the environmental use requirements. When choosing mechanical parts materials, you can consider the following five aspects.

1. Material Processing Performance
The processing performance of the material means that the parts are not good to process. Although stainless steel is anti-rust, stainless steel is not good to process, its hardness is high, and it is easy to wear the tool during processing. Machining small holes in stainless steel, especially threaded holes, is easy to break the drill bit, but also easy to break the tap, which will lead to an increase in processing costs.

2. Material Stability
For products with high precision requirements, if they are not stable enough, various deformation will occur after assembly, or deformation will occur again during use, in short, with changes in temperature, humidity and vibration and other environments

3. What About Material Costs
Cost is an important consideration in selecting materials. Titanium alloy has light weight, high specific strength and good corrosion resistance, and is widely used in automotive engine systems, which has played an immeasurable role in energy saving and consumption reduction.

4. Anti-Rust Treatment Of Materials
Anti-rust treatment is related to the stability and appearance quality of the product. For example, 45 steel usually chooses “blackening” treatment for rust prevention, or the parts are painted and sprayed, and can also be protected by sealing oil or anti-rust liquid during use according to the requirements of the environment.

There are many anti-rust treatment processes, but if the above methods are not suitable, it is necessary to change the material, such as stainless steel. In any case, the problem of rust prevention of products can not be ignored.

5. Is The Tigidity Of The Material Sufficient
Rigidity is the primary consideration when selecting materials, because the product needs a certain stability and wear resistance in actual work, and the rigidity of the material determines the feasibility of the product design.

According to the characteristics of the industry, non-standard tooling design, usually choose 45 steel and aluminum alloy; Tooling design for machining, 45 steel and alloy steel will be used more; Most of the tooling design in the automation industry will choose aluminum alloy.
